MIRP, or Monsters In Real places is just a cool lil blog where you can send in a picture of a monster you’ve made in the real world. I thought ‘why not’ when I saw it on an artist named NVasion’s flickr, so I drew one up quickly.

Rad Lunch Bags !

This is a whole blog about a dad who paints these lunch bags for his kids everyday, what a sweet thing to do. Definetly a memory I hope they keep and an idea I hope inspires other people to create art out of ordinary supermarket products.

prog11 audrey kawasaki progress of work

Audrey’s drawings and paintings are truly beautiful, I love the simplicity and ornate lines she uses to illustrate her dark haired women. The link I’ve posted shows some of her work in progress and it’s inspiring to see her work in it’s rawwest form, still looking so delicate and elegant. The wood canvas, the simple lines, the women’s beauty, the subject material, everying about them I love.  Again, inspiration.

lego touch Lego lize !

One of the coolest yet pointless apps in a while, you literally ‘lego-lize’ a photo of whatever you want with the press of a button ! Basically it remakes your photo using tiny lego blocks. Plus, its totally free, so download it and try it if you have an iphone or ipod touch.

Edgar Mueller’s “The Crevasse”

3D street art is absolutely incredible! If you’ve never seen it before, it consists of two-dimensional paintings on pavement that appear to be three-dimensional when viewed from the proper angle. One of my favorite artists in the scene is Edgar Mueller. I recently saw the making-of video for Mueller’s piece titled “The Crevasse” and thought that I would share it with you all! Here’s an image of the piece followed by the video. Enjoy!

Amazing video and an amazing song. I know it’s old but if you haven’t seen it, you’re missing out. Goosebumps.

Dry Erase Board Stop Motion

Posted: December 29th, 2009 | Author: dunz0 | Filed under: Inspiration | Tags: | No Comments »

I was surfing the web when I found this sweet stop motion video. Kristofer Ström put together this video for a musical group in Sweden called Minilogue. All of the images were drawn on a whiteboard and there’s a neat interactive component to the illustrations. One of my favorite things to watch for is when he drags and repositions some lines with his fingers. It’s great to see the artist physically interacting with what’s drawn on the board. I also love how the drawings are continuously evolving from one thing to another. It’s absolutely fascinating to watch!

Every Person In New York

I can’t remember where I learned about this, but I think that it’s the coolest idea! Artist Jason Polan is working on a project to draw as many people in New York as he can. For his daily drawings, he goes to public places, such as museums, subway stations, and street corners. Since Polan doesn’t make his drawing too obvious, you probably won’t even know if he’s capturing you on paper. Check out the Every Person In New York blog, where you will find all of his uploaded drawings. You might even see yourself there!
